“An artist cannot fail it is a success to be one.”– Charles Horton Cooley Related Quotes “I’m very happy to hear that my work inspires writers and painters. It’s the most beautiful compliment, the greatest reward. Art should always be an exchange.”– Nick Cave “Artistic qualities that once seemed undeniable don’t seem so now. Sometimes these fluctuations are only fickleness of taste, momentary glitches in an artist’s work, or an artist getting ahead of his audience (it took me ten years to catch up to Albert Oehlen). Other times, however, these problems mean there’s something wrong with the art.”– Jerry Saltz “The counterfeit and counterpart of Nature is reproduced in art.”– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
